Why is women's mental health important?
Why is women's
mental health important?
Good mental health is essential to
overall well-being. Many mental health conditions, such as depression and
bipolar disorder, affect more women than men or affect women in different ways
from men. Most serious mental health conditions cannot be cured. But they can
be treated, so you can get better and live well.
Here are five warning signs of women mental
illness to watch for, especially when you have two or more of these symptoms.
- Long-lasting sadness or irritability.
- Extremely high and low moods.
- Excessive fear, worry, or anxiety.
- Social withdrawal.
- Dramatic changes in eating or sleeping habits.
Women suffer more
stress than men because their response to stress is different. Women have a
completely different hormonal system, which as a result causes them to react
more emotionally and become more exhausted on an emotional level.
